Down Time

Some time after the Run to the Sun I came down with the flu. It was that coughy flemmy thing that has been going around Hospice for a while and though I was never ill, I was taken down quite a bit. It put a major cramp in my running and I was off the roads and trails for weeks.

Recovery has been slow. In part because I realized that there was a lot I was not attending to in my life as I ran around the country. I decided to scale back and spend some time on my affairs. Though I don't know how successful that decision has been, I can say that I am deep into a few major projects that take up time. The house, the writings, and my family are getting some additional time and effort.

Anyway I have been making my way back into running. Fear of the Triple Trek is perhaps the major reason. And of course off in the distance is that all consuming Peacock 54. In a few weeks there is the Maunawili Out and Back. I ran part of the trail this weekend and it stretched out longer than I remember it. Lot's of work to do. Lots of muscle and tendon weakness to overcome, two lungs to get back into shape, and, of course, a heart that needs to be beating at 150+ for hours on end. My base is no longer built of concrete.

I'll drop some pics of some of the runs I've done over the past month here as soon as I have time.
