Kuli'ou'ou Revisited

Kuli'ou'ou Ridge
Don and I walked the lower reaches of Kuli'ou'ou today. My back is still tight and he is just beginning to feel ready to return to running. So a nice walk was in order. It was good to talk to Don, good to hear about his trip with Heather to Canada, and good to talk about my HURT plans. We took it slow going up the switchbacks toward the bench.

We made our way up the first steep section, but the second one, that is full of roots caused me to call a halt to our ascent. I just did not want to slip and fall on my ass on the way down. Given my stiff back and the extra clumsiness that would instill in me, I just thought it best to turn around. A second day of going out with old buddies and being pretty flaky on the trails. But then I am doing, or planning on doing a 100 in just over a week.
