Off the Trail
I'm a bit late starting this blog. I had intended to get it going in the first days of my trip to the Mainland but a number of other things took up more time than I had expected and the 'after race down' of the runs was a bit more intense than I had anticipated.
This post is meant to update some of my own feelings about the trip, and give a better idea of what this trip actually includes.
I left Honolulu on August 18 for Pheonix. I was picked up at the airport and stayed with my friend Chris. The stay was a great one and we talked and laughed long into each night after great dinners and too many drinks. My major concern was getting my car running and legal and that took up the bulk of my time. The car needed to be plated, insured, and as we soon found out repaired. It took a few days, and days which I had not really meant to spend in Pheonix. After failing the emmissions inspection and getting some repairs we plated the car, and I insured it.
I left Pheonix for Hot Springs South Dakota in the early afternoon of the 23rd. It was a 1200 mile trip that I did in about 22 hours, which was the Mapscape estimate. It was a hard constant drive.
to be continued
